Thanks a bunch for the crit! I've actually already started to darken the metal. I've added a red tint to the wood and blue to the metal. The wooden planks now have some color variation too. I'll post an update soon!
Interesting that someone posted some Harry Potter stuff at the top of the page, I had a go at making one of the wooden wall panel things from the great hall in nDo2. Think the wood needs a bit more grain to it, though.

Moss is another great way to hide the seams (especially if you use that layered volume trick that's been used for fur for years - I think there was a writeup on it being used in a recent crysis for moss on logs).
