They are only whacky when sitting inside a hierarchy, because they are essentially a (invisible) dummy parented to the groups content. So when you got groups sitting inside hierarchies and do an ungroup, you might end up with the hierarchy broken. Nothing speaks against using groups in limited scenarios like this and with…
