I cannot quite visualize what exactly you want to do, but generally, Substance Designer offers many different warp/distortion nodes some of which accept grayscale masks to influence warp strength, direction etc etc. Since you can create filters and generators for Painter in Designer, you can leverage these nodes and…
Just a heads up, if you try to publish a substance that has a blend node set to overlay (and maybe any of the other blend modes new to SD5) painter will fail to import it 100% of the time.
@Justo check this: https://support.allegorithmic.com/documentation/display/SPDOC/Generic+filter In your case you'd have multiple levels, stemming from the same input, and then you'd have multiple outputs. If I'm understanding what you want to do anyway. There's also a video showing making a filter here:…
It's not because of Designer/Painter. UE4 breaks the node because you changed the color space of the texture. You can fix that easily by going into the node properties and changing the "Sampler type" setting.
yeah that was my idea as well, a merge node or a state in a node you can toggle, which you can place before the simple math like add, multiply, blend etc. So the procedural noises can be baked down on export.
Check out the first icon in the layer's tab, the one that says "add effect". You can, at the very least toss in a HSL node in layer form, and make adjustments to the layer in question. They probably expect to add more controls (node like effects) here.
Have you got Designer? It'd be pretty simple to construct a graph to take the input image, put that through several separate Levels nodes, expose the parameters of each Levels node, and plug each one into a separate output, and save that out as a sbsar for use in Painter. If you don't have it and haven't used the 30 day…
In the long-run, I think Substance Painter needs to aim towards becoming the more artist-friendly front-end for Substance Designer. Production artists need things to be super streamlined, but to still give them control. Aren't layers really just a simplified, linear set of nodes? Couldn't they function as such? Artists…
All of this is noted. I'm compiling all the feature request this week and will create a new thread to help follow the state of all these requests as the beta evolves. @Rick Stirling: You should be able to drag images from the shelf to the Materials slots in the Tool Window. @fr0gg1e: The ability to change values after…
