The '98 Godzilla was a cool looking monster and all, but not really... Godzilla. The new one being similar to 'the old Japanese version' is exactly what makes it better. It actually looks like Godzilla.
Possible that the damage caused that is shown here wasn't caused by Godzilla? There are other monsters in the film. And as far as the hole in the building being a tribute to the 98 Godzilla movie? There's nothing in that film that deserves a tribute, lol.

Kinda wish i hadn't wandered into this thread, I still wasn't sure if there would be other monsters. Oh well. I'm really digging the trailers and marketing for this, so many trailers spoil the whole movie, but I'm still pretty clueless about how this movie will play out.
