Woot! Finally gained the courage to sign up for a 3 month online course in environment modelling, starting in Jan (And paid for it too - ow) and I CAN’T WAIT! Looking forward to some tutor led learnin’ I start in a few days and I am meant to be using 3ds Max. As a total Maya tart, I figure I had better crack on learning!…
Trying a slightly different zbrush tutorial as the other one was confusing. Enjoying this one a bit more though have deviated totally from tutorial model, surprise, surprise!
First two full Substance materials, made without tutorials! Really pleased with the wood - the dirt can be controlled to make it as dirty or as clean as needed. Absolutely loving the process! (and staring at walls too long to work out how to make them)
First building coming together. Spent a whole day sighing over how crappy my textures looked, then actually sat down to a UE4 material tutorial and realised I was doing it completely wrong. Now my metals look like metals. Shiny!
Thanks everyone for your kind words! The ship has been an epic battle, I must say! Learning how to light - having trouble working out how to do it properly... watching a few tutorials but if anyone knows of any good websites/vids I would be appreciative!
@Nut - it's all very new to me and it is surprisingly hard to find good tutorials! There is actually quite a bright "moon" light up the top but it may have come out too blue. First render! Not as horrifying as I thought it would be. And ignore that half the model is not textured. Feels like a decent start.
I;ve started on a project for someone to give myself a challenge! This is as far as I have got so far (ignore the arms, deforming due to v low poly) but I have decided to start with a tutorial on modelling bodies just to make sure I know what I am doing here before I proceed.
