   At this point.. reading further on things.. it almost seems like you don't even need a license for the program you script for? ... now I am all confused.

   I am sure some of you have done this up before. I imagine I would need my own license of Maya. But is that it? Anyone with experience in this care to lend a helping hand? Much appreciated (: Thanks.

   You don't need Maya to write script so why would you need license for it? Code you write is not owned by Autodesk. SDK is also free. If it was paid you would need license to write C++/C#/PythonAPI plugin, but they add it to every Maya so you don't need to buy it.
