For the record, this was also a claim with the 360 and it never materialised (also the 'install to HDD and play whilst installing never materialised properly either). i guess its an extreme example, but we are not back in the arcades... the sense of ownership should be something tangible... not pay for pieces of games to make a complete experience. seems just broken to me. -

I don't remember the 360 claim about being able to install and play instantly, but it's possible they said it. In your example of someone with slow internet, those people should continue buying retail discs. -

Maybe they will just make it subscription/contract based eventually. So for example you not only get the xbox one console for your monthly subscription fee but you also get all the other services netflix and spotify and multiplayer and tivo capabilities etc -

latency will always be the issue, bandwidth has never been the issue. It's a marketing term at most, cloud computing is nothing new and when applied to directly to games there's not much effect on your performance, running an mmo server would be one example. And the worst abuse of the term would be with Simcity. -

I sincerely think we're better off separating digital information from physical material. There's too many distinctions to try and correlate them only when its convenient (not to mention it can introduce flaws to the argument; ford isn't selling a $25k license for example, but 5000lbs of truck). -

Sounds pretty free-to-play to me. Edit: My problem with F2P (taking Tribes pre-GOTY as an example), is that in order to unlock all the game content, you had to spend $200 or so.
