Portable settings/scripts/UI for 3ds max?
I want to move my UI, scripts, settings, everything that I've customized, from one computer to another with a new installation of Max. Is there a tool that helps automate this? I thought I saw some ideas in a thread here about this, but couldn't find it. For now I'll just zip the \scripts \macroscripts \stdplugs \plugins… -

This is probably overkill and not exactly what you need but I use Sugar Sync to sync my work PC to my home PC. I use it to sync all my Max, Zbrush, and PS settings, brushes, scripts whatever. If you have problems syncing different folders just make a NTFS junction instead (e.g. with http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html). Then you can put all your stuff in one "Max" folder. I do this with Skydrive, but it should work with dropbox too. make a 'max/macroscripts' folder in… -

I have all the Max "Additional" (user) folders pointed to dropbox on 3 different machines. Then I just Save Custom UI Scheme and load it on the other machines when I make a hotkey or toolbar change. Keeps everything nicely in sync without much effort. -

Yeah, I like that system Juan. I figure for licensed stuff you would just put the installers on Dropbox too. -
