iirc quake and the engines derived from it such as goldsrc and source always had changeable fov. So it seems the problem isn't the engine. But descions made by the dev.
Damn, that was a great read. I would have never guessed it was that complicated to implement a FOV slider. I guess it's one of those things that some people don't appreciate enough because they have come to expect it. On a related note, I wish people would stop bashing the CoD engine. It is an incredibly difficult task to…
Talking about the Q3 engine here's a clip with John Carmack bragging that videogame engine programming is a whole lot more complicated than space travel ... how cocky can you be, no seriously ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcWRc1wK3gM
Can we at least try and not let things get completely retarded by arguing about engines? That's what gamers do on consumer websites, I'd expect Polycount to be above that...
looking forward to seeing a new version of the engine. They've been pushing the boundary of cod radiant for a few years, so be cool to see what the next version is like. I will probably buy it on a steam sale :)
Maybe it's time to use some legit and proper engine, not this ancient mess that evolved from Quake 3, and I bet noone understand it any more ? And so on other side. Treyarch managed to add FoV. Magic!
I probably wont play this, CoD just isn't my cup o tea, but I'm really excited to see what they can pull off visually with their new engine on a nextgen console. 21st of May cant come fast enough :)
Anytime someone bashes a game based on it's engine it makes me chuckle. Of coarse it's a design decision, wasn't that already discussed? Here's an article about designing for adjustable FOV in Borderlands 2
Just so you guys crying lazy PC port. PC was the lead sku on this game. I didn't work on it and have no ties to it but just figured I would share that tid bit for you and the pc version looks fantastic. Also no FOV slider is a design choice not lazyness. By default the tweakable FOV exists in the engine. :) Those that…
