Some may have thought so but the project is not dead :P. We are busy and working hard behind the scenes to get our heads around the short story for this game. We don't just want pretty graphics, we are aiming for something that will give everyone a great experience and story is a huge part of this. For anyone that ever…
this looks really beautiful. I do have one piece of critique, though you may already be thinking about this. The environment is to static. It would be really nice to see the fire light flickering and the clock in the corner moving back and forth (or dust particles in the window light shafts). Have you thought about…
- Macattackk: These are seperate textures that are being loaded within the same material (all at once if neccessary). If you want to be "correct" it isn't a real Megatexture (as in a texture with sizes above 10kx10k) but I presume that even the Megatexture engine used for RAGE cuts up the "Megatexture" into more usable…
Wow love your stuff! It looks amazing. How did you go about doing your lighting? You mentioned it has 2k lightmaps but you have some dynamic leaf shadows too, are they animated somehow?
Been doing a couple of tests for the vegetatation in Pingo, I want to grab the feeling that artists like Kazuo Oga have in their trees. For the background trees I'll be doing the same kind of stuff as they do in their animation, which is just working with planes and alpha. However for the close up trees that the player is…
If you were using some technique to determine what was in shadow/light then that is the biggest cost (ie, doing the cascade shadow mapping or stencil shadows or whatever technique you use) From that point it's just doing two passes and blending based on the mask. Two textures is worse than one but afaik you'd do two passes…
This looks crazy gorgeous. Any chance you could upload a video of this being rotated please? I'm actually having trouble believing it's a 3D model, it's that good
Been lurking on this for a while Elementrix. Really enjoying where you're taking this. Why Mudbox as opposed to 3D Coat? Just more familiar or something? Just curious. Any chance at screengrabbing your work in progress shots on the next piece? I'd love to see how you're painting this exactly. Looking at the last image it…
