Hey guys, I'm still kind of inexperienced when it comes to emitter/materials in UDK. I've made a basic smoke stack effect for my mech but I also need to have a flamethrower. It's a long shot, but would anyone happen to know of a tutorial for a flamethrower?
Selaznog: Not sure of a tutorial but what i would do is either get a flipbook or play with some fire texture and uv distortion with size by life along with some rotation to give some movement. If you check out Will Kladis stuff on 3dmotive, he has a rocket trail that you could probably modify and base some of the stuff on ?
Thanks Haiddasalami, played around with UDKs Cascade today and got to this point, just need to figure out a way to do velocity over time rather than lifespan so I can get better spread at the end
The chapters in volume 2 of my Cascade Complete Beginner's Guide covers a rocket exhaust sample that could easily be used for a flame thrower as well. It's up on 3dmotive right now. http://www.3dmotive.com/training/udk/cascade-beginners-guide-vol-2/?follow=true Chapters 8 and 9 are the most relevant. Hope this helps!
Here's a nice-looking one. No breakdown, but maybe you can see what he's doing if you look closely. Looks like noise scrolling upwards on a particle plane. http://www.klemenlozar.com/?p=1287
