   So my max 2012 decided to change what sections on my side-panel are open/closed as default. Example: Every time I switch to Polygon mode, Soft Selection is open and Edit Geometry is closed. This is driving me crazy. It only takes a second to rectify, but I have to do this hundreds of times throughout the course of a day.…

   I had a quick dig in the docs for max - check your UI folder for: RollupOrder.cfg This is where max stores customised rollout order, not sure about the rolled-up-ness of the rollouts, but take a look and in the worst case, rename the file with .old at the end and restart, might put you back to defaults. good luck!
