well when it comes to scales, usually a good photo overlay will do the trick. But if you insist on painting scales, they are usually circles, not square. The scales you have now remind me of the lizard in the old spider man cartoon. -

New Update. Finished the scales on his face. Tried to get the shape variation I saw on the lizard references. How's it look? Ack, just noticed some scales bled onto the horn, ignore that its fixed. :) -

I would suggest smoothing out the anatomy a bit, the muscle structure looks good however I'm not getting a sense that there is a layer of skin on top of it, which is rather unusual for a lizard. Keep at it though! It's coming along great! :) -

Hey guys. Trying to get some more done on this in my spare time. Blocked in a bunch of things including a back piece that will be akin to some type of lizard skin. Still got a ton to do but I'm happy that I am progressing. -

The left one might fit sand king more if you gave it extra eyes or something? It's cool though. Looks like a spiny lizard. I like the SK heads but I'm not massively keen on the flower pot helmet for Legion. -

I started working on something very similar to this! Actually the lizard from final fantasy xi. So I'm looking forward to seeing any extra progress you make on this. I'm also pretty stumped on how to do the lizardy skin. -

I am getting a Chinese water dragon from vibe from this guy as well. It's a sleeker, faster lizard and could be a better reference for the musculature. Also try and make it so you can reuse those spikes to save on UV space.
