Did you try drawing/sketching thumbnails of how you want to present it? Also consider WHO the character is. My immediate feedback would be towards the mesh clipping through the clothes and certain scenes of stiff animation, but I suppose that's something that can be covered with more work and polish. Remakes, except for outstanding labors of love like Jackson's 'King Kong', are all generally garbage. Everything that I enjoy about most of the movies mentioned would be lost in a remake.
