Depending on the style you're after, you could probably use Extended Duplicate along a few curves. I've seen array duplicators, but I'm not sure if any accept surfaces as their base.
If you've got photoshop cs3 extended or cs4 (regular), then you could paint it in there (and yes, blurring should work, although I don't like what it does to seams a lot of the time)
Yo Cheshire!! I recognise that name!!! welcome back to the big green planet dude shall check the sdk friday (working extended hours, yay! ) might get something going
the curve isnt really helping it, just making it look retarded, i liked the extended version, but right now it just lacks sense, functionality and purpose, but kudos for the hp modeling skills :)
I'd like to extend a big congrats to Justin "JDinges" Dinges; he will be joining the Halo team here at 343 Industries as the newest Environment Artist. Btw, for those looking for work 343i is still looking to fill a bunch of open positions.

That almost horizontal grip angle doesn't look comfortable at all. I would keep the profile of the top/back of the grip but rotate/extend the bottom down so it isn't such a wrist breaker.
