If someone told me back in 2005, unreal engine would be free for indies one day and yet people would complain about it and compare it to unity, I wouldn't believe it. It happened... 2005...the year I was trying to figure out thief:deadly shadows editor, the strangest version of unreal engine 2.5...those were the days...
I just dropped by to let you know I made the STG 44 low poly. Here are some images: Model has 11 135 tris and you can view it here stg44 (View in 3D) (Just switch to clean shading to get rid off the grid texture) Now I start finishing the SVD.
That sounds on the money. I was thinking of those Shield Mandroid things Stark destroyed in Armor Wars. Maybe we can get some Extremis in the 3rd one. How sick would that be? Also: Iron Man 232 for the Epic Win. No real spoilers in it just a cool look into Stark's mind; may need cdisplay to read it.
I'm a game designer at Gameloft, so I'm sure we'll see each other around! EDIT: After Jacque's post I just wanted to say I've been living here for about 2.5 years (from Texas), and I haven't had a car the whole time I've lived here and it's been great :)
If you're rendering with Scanline then enable the Global Supersampler in the rendering options, and use the Hammersley option. Ramp up the quality and it should fix the aliasing issues, but beware of the extra rendering times. Also try maybe rendering out your normal map 2x bigger than intended and scale down in Photoshop?…
Kary: I was referring to having to save out the tool. I have not used ZBrush since 2.5. Since then mudbox has come out and hitting ctrl-s saves the mesh I am working on and not the bloody scene screwing you over from editing that "tool" you were working on and losing your work.

Nope. Last UE that allowed you to cut single quads out from terrain was UE 2.5. In UE 3 terrain it depended on the max tessellation level, meaning if you used agressive lodding on terrain you could only cut gigantic chunks away. Now you can cut single quads from landscape.
Faster cards are good for more than games. I know that CS4 loves these cards with the OGL stuff now. I use Badaboom to encode video (uses the GPU) and on my old card it was about 120FPS to process a DVD to mp4, with the 285 it's like 540fps. Games are nothing on this card. More video memory is always better.
