Hey @ebi, How's it going? I put this image together, just to help aid my thinking in approach to this model. For the piece that encompasses the sphere, I would look at it as a sideways sphere: (btw, these were quickly modeled, and are definitely not the same as the image, but they get the point across) and for the laser…
Hey Zac, it's not for any model in particular, it's a sub-d exercise my tutor gave me, the goal is to get the cleanest subdivision possible. Probably if it was for a real model I wouldn't bother so much, it shades quite okay from a distance, you're right. I am fishing for information here to see if someone knows of a…
Hey guys! I'm modeling my 3rd car and I've been stuck. I'm trying to harden the door-frame corner but I keep getting weird pinching and an ugly bump with turbosmooth when I add supporting loops. The only way I could get this to work was if I subdivide the mesh at 2 iterations, collapse, extract the door and chamfer the…
Hey everyone! I'm trying to model this using subdiv. And I'm stuck at this place: This is the mesh: And subdivided: I can't fugire out how to get rid of these pinches: 😤 Any ideas how to solve it? 🙄
@PancakeMSTR In the frontal zone i would have used a triangular topology. Triangles can also be used in subdivion modeling in the first iterations (lvl0 or base mesh) The side of the helicopter seems to be curved.
I want that curly piece. Any ideas on how to model that? I already tried to use a simple cylinder and after adding some loops twisting it but I never get this overlapping look.
The back doesn't have that same pectoral edge flow. Unless you mean delete the (model's) LEFT half and dupe the right? The right half is an instance so it has identical problem atm.
I thought it was in this thread but wasn't there a nifty little jpg tutorial on modeling on curves using a modifier in max? I think it was like a shoulder armor or something.. now i can't find it. :D
Perna, I'm speechless. May I ask how you approach modelling in a scenario like this? What was your process? Sorry for the standard questions, I'm still trying to digest your example.
I have been looking for a quick and good way to model rebar. Any tips on how i should create those and how i can deform them along a spline, if possible.
