I think you understood right. By skinning I meant weighting a polygon mesh to a skeleton for the purposes of posing/animation. By using cards for feathers, I meant using the same technique as for polygon hair.
Hello ! Always loving the JuniorSenior avatar :) Along the lines of the suggestions from the Great Eric, and considering that the goal is an actual game asset for UE, then simply start by modeling a first version of the final polygon game asset of the tent at rest. Garment making tools may be useful to an extent since they…
Negative scale mirroring, in my experience, is bad mostly because the normals are flipped. Most games render polygons only single-sided, so you end up with half the model looking inside out.
Yeah, if you use just the Delete key on edges, it leaves all the vertices behind at the intersection points. Ctrl + Delete will remove the intersecting vertices. You can try making a marquee selection through the center part of your model while in vertex selection mode to grab any stray points, then press Delete (not Ctrl…
More transforms do have a cost. So placing multiple versions an object can actually take up more memory than a large single object. However this depends on how much memory your first object takes up. So there is a threshold where it's better to join objects together. And there's another threshold higher up where it's…
Hi CoJax Welcome to Polycount! I agree with the above thus far,it looks like there is too many polygons in it for what it is. Also your model seems out of proportion to the orginal picture. Looks like the tower too short. If you look at the top squares on the wall that comes off the tower in the reference they look tobe a…
It would help if the artstation link was actually hyperlinked, but maybe that's this new forum theme ;) The spray can is weak. The polygon use is inefficient - the silhouette is unremarkable and visibly jagged for 13,000 polygons, and the shading is clearly all over the place. The takeaway from this is not to use fewer…
Last Update : Hello everyone! This year, I'm going to participate to the Humster3d challenge. I already did it several years ago with this Peugeot 308.https://hum3d.com/challenges/quick-stop-in-front-of-the-night-shop/ And this time, same idea, I want to render all my scene into Marmoset Toolbag! Start : It was difficult…
