Super easy; just make sure symmetry is off, and click the white circle at the end of the transpose line. That'll center it on your current visible/unmasked mesh.
What you need to use is photometric lights with a big light shape for blurred shadows, preferrably a circle. Just crank up the radius untill you are satisfied.
