Really awesome work everyone. Plugging a classmate of mine. Worked his butt off this year to get this thing done which I think is more than worthy of recognition. Steampunk Law enforcer: by GuangArt Hi-Resolution http://gwangshi172.deviantart.com/gallery/38226849#/d57d5rt
IF you get chugging after limiting to one CPU(set affinity), also do set priority to below normal, this always works for me in xnormal. Often times I will bake normals/color mask in maya, and AO in Xnormal at the same time with this method, i've got 4 cores, but you get the idea. I5 for $715 sounds good if you're thinking…
Hi 3DAndy, you should change your RAM, it will probably not fit under your CPU cooler. Look at this picture which uses normal sized RAM which is a lot smaller than the one you picked: http://pics.computerbase.de/4/0/9/7/5/19.jpg EDIT: it will definitely not fit. The actual clearance for memory is approximately 4.5cm, and…

Long time no post! Low poly done, and as I feared, it's a bit high on the polycount. The following screenshot is not complete, I've just assembled pieces to show you the overall wireframe. On my scene I'm a 38k, and I think I'll be at 40k because I need 3 or 4 more little wires inside. I don't want to sacrifice some shapes…
This is looking really great! For the glass in the workbench scene I actually used the dithered transparency. Thats totally not what its meant for, but it sort of works if you have enough sampling. I maxed out the sampling and rendered at 3840x2160 and then sized down to 1080P for those shots. Refraction (when it gets…

Cathodeus I have the Kinematic Labs plugin. I do not only mean that functionality. There seem to be some other good ideas in Meshmachine. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZPs9CMQPQw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38X-Fm2RioY
You could also set your directional light to moveable so you don't need to bake lighting after a scene adjustment. This is easier if you're constantly making small tweaks just for an image. If you're intent is to show a baked light scene of course you could just switch it back at the end. For screenshots I like to enter a…
