Also wanted to say thanks, I bought a pixel perfect 27" QNIX (matte). So now i'll have a dell 23" 1920X1200 as my reference monitor next to this monster. Do other character artists actually sculpt with their monitors in portrait mode?
Nice to see you posting here again. :D Nice sketches, yeah they look a bit short maybe (that's what you get for living in Japan now, hehe ;) . Maybe some portraits would be nice, with some more detailed view of the helmets etc.
I mean, what specific images? Who's head? Right now, your head sculpt is missing a lot of the bony landmarks I'd expect from most faces. I like this resource as a quick overview of the landmarks to keep in mind. https://www.artistsnetwork.com/art-subjects/portrait-figure/how-to-draw-bodies-lea-colie-wight/
People generallt do a Lod0 first, then after unwrapping they lower its tris without changing its UV map so they have 2 models with some UV map and colors but the one in portrait (Lod0) has more tris in order to give model a better look. But you dont have to make lod0, it is just a option.
Hey! I really like the portrait of a boy. Carrier reoriantations can be rough, keep it up. As an artist who started out purely as a 3d modeler I can say that you shouldn't be afraid combining your 3d and 2d skills. 2d concept piece based on a rough 3d can give you an edge.
I love this thread. Here is a cross post from my sketchbook thread that I just started the other day. I am a high school student wanting to attend gnomon and I am working on traditional skills now so this thread is perfect. Here are some portraits, gesture drawings, and random sketches. Crits Welcome ;)
Rembrandt lighting is a lighting technique that is used in studio portrait photography. It can be achieved using one light and a reflector, or two lights, and is popular because it is capable of producing images which appear both natural and compelling with a minimum of equipment. So in this post we are going to make…
My latest assignments from the class "Essentials of realism" by Jonathan Hardesty: Assingment 1: Block-in overlays on portraits of lights and darks. Increasing in detail. References: 1. Jonathan Hardesty 2. http://jasonbellphoto.com/#/home/ 3. http://www.paulmorelstudios.com/…
Here is a paint of a screen grab from the film "The Fountain" And a portrait of my gf, from reference. While the likeness is a little off, (she looks like shes 14 in this sketch) im pretty pleased with it. I think I spent a little too long looking at cartoony/anime style art and went a little big with the eyes.
Looking for projection painting like Mari. I don't believe Substance has anything like that. I don't need Mari all the time, so it is quite wasteful to buy it for a full year. Is 4K and 16 bit export of the free version enough to use for portraits?
