It's not a terrible start. The center line has a pinch where it was mirrored. You'll need to soften that. I would suggest looking at animal anatomy from lizards, bats and dinosaurs. Once you have thoroughly researched how the anatomy might go together, then you'll want to build a new model that follows the flow of…
It's not done to scale, but they look like recessed hills to me that you can copy and paste all the way down and across. I also played with the depth on the far left/right vertices to recreate the pinching in the image. Edit: Or you could reverse the hills having depth and make the holes in the image sink lower than the…
Hey Phil, I tried recreating the normal map you get from the gradients you posted up but for some reason I'm getting a pinch in the middle and nothing too smooth. I'm using the xNormal filter in Photoshop...maybe I should be using the Nvidia filter instead? Oh and obviously the normal seems to be inverted O_O
Hey dabookerman, looks like it's coming along. The area the erks me a bit would be the legs are feeling a little disjointed by the knees. Generally muscles will interlock and produce an s-curve rhythm and right now it fells like everthing just pinches at the joint. Also the calves feel thicker than the thighs which seems…
The weird thing with Macbooks is the trackpad is decent for modeling. Granted you wouldn't want to use it full time. But on a train or whatever it has worked for me in a pinch. Better than taking a mouse, etc. Also the batt life and displays on the Macbooks are great. Check ebay and you might be able to find one at that…
I can definitely see some pinching near the four horizontal slots towards the front of the gun, post some wires (or add more edges to the cylinder) Some of your edges might be a little tight too, but it's hard to tell due to the aliasing going on, throw up some higher res pics as well I'd say
Update on sculpt added in eye sockets and edited the eyes they look better then before but still need more work doing to them and the same for the hair use the pinch tool to make the sharper at the end but need to edit the hair strands more also i edited the nose but not liking it at the moment and will need to spend more…
@ CapableWizard - I modeled a sub-d base mesh. I tried to model in some of those details, but it just wasn't clean. I found it much cleaner and faster to get those things out of Zbrush. That said your attempt looks good, though you might have some topology issues going into zbrush ( pinches and such).
So I'm already having the problem with the ring around the main piece of the grenade. The holes cut with bevels produce a slight pinch where the bottom edges run to the corner of the piece. I'm not sure if it is too noticeable for the normal map or not. I've tried about ten different edge configs, this one being the best…
Thank you for the feedback! Yea, pinching is the bane of my existence right now, fixing that and also adding bavels to all the edges has been on my to do list! I've done quite a few changes since my last update. I'll try to post some more work later! Thanks again man, cheers!
