you have some issues with the muzzle which i guess are all too common when cutting holes in round things. I did a demo of how to get round it if you are interested as im guessing its not intentional. Step 1: create a plane completely flat, with your shapes cut out of it. I started with a rectangular spline, filleted the…
Thx :) I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. Do you mean that your smooth brush gives up and dosn't smooth at all or that it just smooths the borders of your mesh? The only setting I've set is the wrapMode 2. Holding shift and setting the wrapMode for the smooth brush.. Other then that it's trimSmoothBorder set to…
Seems like something to do with the smoothing. The anomaly doesn't lay on any edges or polygons, I checked all this and the geometry is solid. It's a 1202 solid mesh. Smoothing is Auto and Prevent Indirect Smoothing checked and set to 180 like all of my models, since I don't use smoothing groups for these models.
Looks like a smoothing problem on the mesh. Have you tried applying a smooth modifier or clearing the smoothing groups in editable poly? Or it could also be a uvw map problem. Apply an unwrap modifier and check the seems for texture padding issue.
I just noticed that the top of my low poly model, and a couple other areas, are smoothed and the rest is not... lol how did I not see that?! *face palm* Can I smooth in zbrush? I think I may have done the smoothing to the top in blender. Should i GoZ to blender and smooth? Again, I'm a noob, thanks.
Yes don't UV more than you have to, so if you can cut the mesh in half and cut up some UVs, then mirror it back and do a final UV layout, you'll save time. Same with any array "do we agree that my lowpoly shading must be flat ? I mean, I don't have to turn on the smooth shading since this smooth effect will come from the…
Hi, I'm trying to get used to using this to preview my work and I've ran into a problem with a test model I'm making, and I've tried a number of ways to solve it, but nothing so far: Basically I'm getting a smoothing error on one side of the model, where its attempting to smooth with the bottom of the model. I can't find…
ok, try this --> sometimes the FBX exporter just effs up for no reason (fun, right?). select both your smooth bound mesh and bone, then go to file --> export selection. select FBX from the drop down menu and look to the right (options). navigate to file type specific options --> presets --> current preset. change this from…
I think you went about smoothing groups wrong. Your low poly doesn't have to look good with smoothing groups. In fact, if you use a synced workflow / handplane your smoothing groups will make your low poly look like shit. You should use as few smoothing groups as possible to lower the vert count of your objects. Along the…
Smoothing groups.... Also something to try after you sort out the smoothing groups is to mesh smooth or teselate the larger polys to avoid getting those wierd shadow lines that run down the center edge of a poly. Sorting out proper smoothing groups also help Quite a bit. As for details, toss in some rivets, bolts, hatches,…
