Oh I forgot to add my main reference for the idea: http://www.muharraqi-studios.com/muharraqi_gallery.php?cat=SCENES&id=108 You can see that shapes are stylized, but the materials and lighting are kind of realistic. I'm aiming for something like that.
Updated to Maya 2018 yesterday and its broken for me as well? I tried older FBX exports but still no good? I wish I could work out what I am missing? must be some option in the exporter. :(
Why have your shapes unwraped on the grid ? because some people model with their textures laid down on the grid. Others achieve the same with the of use of camera projection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AW0hVKyxXCw&feature=player_detailpage#t=218
Is it possible to desaturate the colour of a photon that bounces of a surface. I'd like a global control we have a lot of saturated textures in our scene and these are bouncing quite saturated light around the world. Right now I'm using global illumination scale set to 0.8 to fix some of it.

Sorry if I misunderstand you, but I'm assuming you want it so you get a dialog window to browse for a path? If so you should use https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2018/ENU/Maya-Tech-Docs/Commands/show.html?fileDialog2.html&cat=System
Hi! Unfortunately, support for the Colors tool is discontinued beyond 2018 versions of Autodesk toolsets. You will need to use a tool such as Marmoset Toolbag or xNormal to create color ID maps, or create them from your UV shells in a tool like Photoshop. Apologies for the trouble!
My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M and I am using Max 2018. The issue is not the brackets, as I can still turn those on and off. These while lines come off of the objects and the view cube whenever i lasso select and nothing is selected.
Happy New Year everyone! I'm making art until the last possible second, naturally. Playing with lighting and adding a few more assets... I like this stage, when things start coming together, albeit slowly.... Here's hoping for an awesome 2018 for everyone!
