Working on a basic zombie model for the alpha. Limbs are separate due to a limb altering mechanic :p Also working on environmental assets, will be texturing those for a bit!
In L4D series for example, they don't use any Normal Maps on the Zombies for their folds and such, they make clever use of Diffuse and Specular, so as said, it all depends.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare? It may not be 100% pure hand painted goodness, but it's still stylized and has a nice Next Gen/Stylized vibe to it.
