Instead of trying to bend it, add a Symmetry modifier and rotate the mirror 45 degrees. On this page he even says that's how he did the corners on his window. I like this idea. Sounds like fun to try even if it doesn't work well. Though, I would use one of those neato laser levels. They put out a straight laser light similar to what he's doing with the wine glass stem. I just don't understand why he suggests putting the cam at a 15 degree angle. Wouldn't a 45 or 90 make more… -

Sounds like the tech. If your normal-maps are being interpolated correctly with your model's tangent space, you should never see any seams (from a pure highpoly bake) no matter what angle your UVs are at. Obviously if you have sharp angles in your lowpoly then seams maybe become noticeable, but having a mesh UV'd at 45… -
