I wouldn't attach a scarf on a sword handle also there is some weird grey dots on the leather of the handle (of the first sword). What school are you attending? -

I think his sword blade should be 50% longer!!!!! His current sword just looks like a machete compared to how big he is. -

IN regards to the sword detail, just imagine where the sword actually makes contact with other objects. That should localize the damage areas you're looking to paint in. -

Zonder: the first thing that jumps out at me is the fact that the sword is upside down. You would never rest a Japanese sword on its sharpened edge. -
