Sweet! Small critique: The pilot will likely be exhausted from riding this vehicle for extended periods of time without something to rest their upper body on. Any way you can work in some functionality to the vehicle where there is a padded abdomen or chest plate for them to lean in to?
Just curious as to why midpoly is "bullshit." And what game you have seen a vehicle in at 40,000 tris? I like how Oniram was actually able to give a game and a tri count... Not allowed to say what game, but a current gen PS3 game is shooting out vehicles at 6000 - 8000.
No, I just really like the quad vehicle concept in Alex's thread, saw Deforges's wheel this morning, and I felt serious urge to make my version. I think I'll continue with the other pieces because I've never done a vehicle so it would be something new to me.
Yeah that seems to be the collision detection from hell. It's mind-boggling even beginning to think of how netcode is supposed to handle people, ragdolls, deployables, within vehicles, which also has vehicles in it. Lots of servers just have a rule against moving the turd altogether.

Oh and also, we dont have to follow a concept to 100%, the main idea is, make an awesome vehicle, its the end result that counts. Sorta realised im in over my head since im quite new on vehicles, but hey! Ill definately learn something new from this.
Quite an interesting vehicle asset in a sort of cartoon world, and with added detail. Definatly something that Daffy Duck would nick for a show. I hope you're making decisions on what colours to use on this, can either make the vehicle or ruin it. Have you down any colour palletes for it?
Yeah you really lost the face and the feel of the vehicle. Your changes definitely hurt the aesthetic of the vehicle. It's no longer chunky, not as much of a tank. When using a concept, I feel the most important thing is capturing the aesthetic and design ideas, and not matching the shapes 1:1 like a blueprint.
I also witnessed the bug where the vehicle and the thrust would suddenly seperate. I couldn't tell exactly what was triggering the change, but the collision resided in front of the thrust, not where my vehicle appeared. When I died, it would reset and be correct again... until it split again.
