It's a good exercise to write your own boolean tools, particularly if you're doing all the math yourself. But just fyi, there are several scripts that do the same thing in Maya already ("SpeedCut" and "BoolS" both come to mind).
hey man im currently having the same issue (# Error: RuntimeError: file C:\Users\travis\Desktop\HardMesh_2.33_WINONLY\scripts\hmScripts\UI\HmOptions_HardMeshOperation.py line 571: Object's name 'hmRadioShaderCollection' is not unique. #) what was the fix?
You could hook some scripts up to mess with a given camera and get similar behaviour but my advice would be to leave well alone - once you've upset a default camera in maya it tends to stay upset.
It's still a Pro v Indie thing, even on 3.2. However, you can dodge it with some scripts; rotating a blob shadow around by locking the projector's angle to that of the light source, or you can use volumetric shadows.
If you would model a flat geo strip of that shape and unwrap it, you could use this method aswell: https://simonfuchs.wordpress.com/2014/08/17/tutorial-adding-detail-to-your-highpoly-objects-using-the-slideknit-script/
Yeah i am mate. For an alternative i am just parenting the meshes. Cheers Bartalon i will try that script to see if it works which im sure it does :) Thanks both for replying to rather old thread
Cheers everyone! Made a little block-out. UDK test. btw Height of first person camera in UDK can be also changed in 'Pawn" scripts. In DefaultProperties, string "BaseEyeHeight" and "EyeHeight". It's player collision and camera height.
Then they're terrible at sticking to it. "More Hand Painted Texturing!" 12-11 "Materials in UE4!" 11-06 "Learn to Script in Maya!" and "Create Tileable Photographic Textures!" 10-30 "Stylized Texturing" 9-23 Etc...
wow the visuals look awesome. really cool, the voice commentary is hooooooorible. why do companies have this scripted smack talk/tactical chatter that just sounds so rehearsed and fake? game looks interesting though.
So I tried making a script a to keep it always on for all sub-object modes, but because the thing is a Toggle, it just switches on and off all the time. Does anyone know of a way to keep the step mode always on?
