teddybergsman: If you are going to be doing those changes to exporter please have a look at "QuickSaveMaps" plugin for Photoshop. It allows for great level of customisation and great flexibility. Something current exporter lacks. By the way can you explain in a bit more detail how these calibration profiles work in a bit…
Here is a Disney research paper on the subject from 2015, and the techniques they used to make this work. They used a fully unwrapped mesh and a lookup map that matches pixels based on UV regions and fills in the areas of the mesh that don't exist in the 2D colouring book image. Might be worth a read. Good luck.…
I cant wait to see this at the cinema, the shots in the trailer were excellent. with the 3D, how much depth do they project? the last time I saw a 3D film was at Disney world (i think) with polarised glasses and they made everything look like it was right in front of your face. It was fun until the novelty wore off, then…
Hi! Love your works! You're also really lucky to being able to work on Disney's Epic Mickey! :) One thing I would change is your banner at the top (your name). I know it's a design purpose but at the first look, it's hard to see the "R" and the "F" clearly. Maybe just reduce a bit to fill on the yellow spot would be…
aye DeadAlive (Braindead) was more of a comedy than it was a horror, much like Evil Dead really, tho the first two evil deads were funny and scary... 3rd just being funny in a disney style. I wasn't scared by The Thing, more in awe at the arty gorey mutant goodness, god damn the first discovered cadavre was a sexual…
Read that thread. You will not be able to attend a graduate program at say socal?, (The school that ea backs up, the one started by Disney), with a degree from Digipen. SOcal? SCU? masters in interactive design graduates have created some of the more original work in the industry. Don't limit yourself with a career school…
Hahaha thank you Siobhandeswardt. I'm focused on modeling and texturing for 3D animation/film/TV/VFX. I am most drawn to studios that do cartoony disney/pixar-style work, which I tried to cater to in my current portfolio.. but I am thinking of shifting towards realistic pieces for VFX integration because there's a lot more…
Well it's oxidized metal, so I would think not. A good place to start from if anyones intent is to get a base material as accurate as possible: You could make a template for black oxidized metal (or MANY materials) based off its brdf in the Merl 100- http://people.csail.mit.edu/wojciech/BRDFDatabase/brdfs/ Disney's viewer…
I think the metal is too shiny considering it has a lot of dirt and damage. As for the design, i think the mesh is too noisy with very small details. I'm not into stylized models but i always see they have very simple shapes but are very appealing with a good color palette. Check at this image from the new Disney movie…
I'm considering tweaking the style, to get a better explosion. This will be my ref: (updated:) Not sure how it'll turn out, but I'll give it a try. ^^ EDIT: ========= I will mostly modify the explosion textures, to stay away from the disney style and come back to Riot's, and the decal, which I'll try to make it look like…
