looks very nice, though its missing a bit of that local reflection magic the UE4 ones have. floor looks very diffuse

Another update. New in this update: 1. Base diffuse/colours 2. Base materials for MOST pieces Floor is a default texture in UE4.

Diffuse only assets, low resolution textures, low resolution display, billboard sprites, and no texture filtering will get you 99% of the way there

This is the current state at the moment. I decided to change the tail into an ornamental and rather diffuse shape which I thought would be more interesting

Nice breakdown! Only thing i'd mention is the alpha on the diffuse is the AO and that the possible booster texture you mentioned is DVA's eye texture.

Yeah you might just try painting just diffuse maps, I see plenty of people making things just using that

A good decision, I think. This style of character will probably look great with just a nicely-painted diffuse map anyway. And it'll be faster ;)

Vig, you keep saying defuse when you mean diffuse. Unless you have explosive textures that you need to disarm?
