As promised, some more shots with breakdowns. (image heavy!) I tried to optimize them as much as possible but if it feels too heavy let me know please. beauty shots from unity game mode zbrush sculpts unity standard legacy shader modified for tint mask support. (possible to quickly change roof colors) huge amount of…
@ Auld / Ledyr / Hollandje and of course Amber, thanks guys for your kind comments :) @ Tor, hey man! Yeah I thought about doing modular textures but I always end up with rubbish edges, or having to chamfer them, I do struggle with modular textures on complex objects (I know a crate is hardly complex). So in this case, I…
Rough 3d model of position/scale I want to do for certain pieces, My plan is to break down each part of the train station part by part. So far my plan is to work on: Working on modular pieces for the train station first then cafe the cafe has a lot of modular pieces i can use from it too, so it's not too bad. I'll also use…
Need to improve by Sat. - Redo terrain based on Michelle's paintover (below) Steps (more geo for wear) Columns (more geo) Bricks (fix what fucked up) Add more layers for vertex painting. Model/texture ladder and other things Make ropes look like ropes and cables look like cables I need to make love to my modular pieces…
Hey, I'm currently trying to switch over to Blender (2.8) for all future personal/freelance work. I've hit a bit block though. The UV tools seem....pretty inadequate for Environment art. UVing modular assets and getting everything precise and on the grid seems very difficult. What are others experiences with…
Man I don't know what it is but those corner shadows/ highlights are definitely a light map issue. I ran into the same thing before I knew how to properly use modular assets and there are three things that could create that issue. 1) Vertex lighting on modular assets. 2) The walls are a single sided plane so by being…
keep in mind with unreals auto generate lightmap uvs, its not actually doing an unwrap, its taking the UVs from channel 1 and repacking them at a consistent texel density. so if you have stitched/overlapping stuff going on in channel 1 it will carry over to your lightmap and you will get that overlap error. you can do a…
Hi, i would recommend checking out 3DMotive Modular dvd it will give you better idea on this sort of stuff. However there are 2 things you need to keep in mind when making buildings or anything that humans can explore, 1. Will you explore it from inside? 2. Will it be just there far away? you can see but you wont go…
Okay so here is the project I will be working on for the next couple of months trying to get into the whole pipeline of Environment Art. So any feedback is heavily appreciated. All those tips and tricks ;) I decided to approach it with the guidance of Jacob Norris' guide on Modularity ( CLICK ) This is what I got after 2…
Assuming this is a circular hallway of some sort.. I'd start with a cylinder and take one segment of it as modular piece.. that you can simply repeat by keeping the pivot in the center of the original cylinder and rotating it by x degrees depending on the amount of segments. If you can't fix it and want a perfect cylinder…
