Hey, after a moment of inspiration I drew this weapon for Legion Commander. It's based on ancient Japanese pole-arms and the traditional Japanese demons. I'm not really proficient with modelling and stuff, so it's up for grabs if anyone's interested.
you sure that looks chinese or japanese hue hue hue :D even i'm not that sure but rope design really makes me feel japanese much, blame naruto and street fighter Akuma or Gouken. :P
taiko no tatsujin something about the japanese rhythm games are ridiculously fun.. and the fact that you can pick them up without knowing japanese at all and still be able to play says something about the simplicity and fun factor of it.
Japanese games for sure use a lot of standard Japanese symbology -- water as a symbol for death (FFX), etc etc I think for Western games you can kind of think of the main stuff as symbols for jingoist macho posturing.
Thx! New bug just came in: Apparently It is not working on Japanese versions of 3Ds Max. I think it is because of some naming/character error. I will try to make a special version for the Japanese and Chinese artists. That will be a cool challenge ^^
Article giving further insight to present day localization requirements at least from Japanese devs perspective. http://www.japantimes.co.jp/life/2011/06/29/digital/local-heroes-take-japanese-video-games-to-the-world/#.Vw1X1jArKUk
Hi, Polycounters! I have recently uploaded my first project to the Unreal Marketplace. It is a fully built scene inspired by a japanese hot spring, and all assets within it are built and textured by me. Here is a link to the Unreal Marketplace Any feedback or purchases are highly appreciated!
