bad relative to other applications - most software I can pick up and start making stuff in a few hours like picking up Mudbox for the first time after using Zbrush for a while. I really wanted to like Blender when I was shopping around for a 3D Painting app but holy hell, it had me almost punching my screen in frustration.
@ant1fact Haha thanks for the link man. Just need to learn maya for the first year. The teachers warned me against changing the default keymap but I couldn't help myself. I've already started blendifying maya :) , custom pie menu's and all that. I'll try to do most of the work in Zbrush and baking in marmo since those…
DireWolf : as mentionned earlier the "Introduction to Blender for Zbrush Users" Gumroad video by Jerry Perkins covers all the basics, with the added benefit of being practical rather than theorical. https://gumroad.com/masterxeon1001 The tone is informal, but that doesn't diminish the quality of the information in any way.…
Great news Andy. Just saw the new DVD release on my th feed. Looks great man, will be interested to see what you guys cover knowv you've covered zbrush so in depth :) Whats your involvement with Eat 3d btw? You own it? So is this going into a main release straight away or am I going to have to wade through graphicall? :P
I suggest to think sculpting tools in Blender as an addition to polygon modeling, I often use it to fix up shapes without even adding multi resolution modifier. I use Blender sculpt as much I can before probably jumping in zbrush for final details addition. To be honest now days in the substance era, I add most of small…
Please tell me theres a better way to do retopology than shrinkwrap and face snapping with basic modeling tools? Not having a good time with this, extrusion snapping is very unreliable and I've been cleaning it up with shrinkwrap, a lot of relaxing, and by grabbing individual verts to snap them back to the surface. It's…
Yup, you do. And depending on how many pieces your model has, this can become quite the time-consuming endeavor. That is precisely what I was looking to avoid by switching to Blender. Thanks for sharing your thoughts - it seems that Blender still has some issues to deal with to be at the same level as KS is with Zbrush…
I guess it depends on the workflow - I personally rely quite a bit on having dense (not edit-mode friendly, but at least sculpt-friendly) models in my Blender scenes, so any boost in that regard is welcome ! That being said, 2.74 already behaves quite well when dealing with decimated models from Zbrush, so it is quite…
I've been using blender ever since I first took the plunge in to 3D and I've been pretty satisfied. In the few G+ Hangouts I've been in there is always someone who is surprised to see a Blender user. :P I can't find much mention of this, but I found some useful tips on using matcap materials made in ZBrush for real time…
Guys, I'm kind of stuck on this... I'm trying to figure out what to do exactly with the subdiv modifier on my models in blender. I've read that you can essentially merge a low poly (no modifier) version and a high poly version (Modifier applied) together in substance painter, then export this mesh. I've tried to find…
