a 2.5d psp homebrew i'm working on with some folks, possibly gunna port to iphone. When it's closer to completion i'll make a thread for it and describe the "engine" and such. All art by me, programming by hardhat and calvin
thats, not over-sharped :) that texture downsized from 512x512 and models will be used on iPhone also, they must look dirty and used like in Mad Max :D i will post shot from the engine soon
They're already irregular, but I think the no-shadow make these irregularity invisible on this screenshot ^^ in-game it look nice and "messy" :p I wont merge them because the box have to explode with a physics engine ^^
@darkmag07 -It's my favorite system, a part of my childhood. @Bombshell -Can't wait for your next step on the engine! Finally, i made a little band of creatures. Looks like food or other stuff.
The Quake/HL engine is a software rendering engine. GL support was added later, and textures had to be re-sized in software before being used. Non power of 2 textures support was eventually added to 3D hardware, but it's not ideal, and it's slower. The hardware is optimized to Power of two textures. The NPOT was for image…
Thanks. It runs about 25fps on Tegra2 tablet (ASUS Transformer). The pipeline is tough - basically, you'll need a programmer skilled with OpenGL, GLSL shader developer, and a modeler. We've managed to combine them in 2 people. :) We're not using any 'engines' for our apps - they are pure OpenGL calls and camera…
Yeah the last original models i've been doing have been 500 polygons over the 1000 polygon limit of the thread, due to hands mostly. And they're built for a 1999 engine hacked to support 1997 hardware!
Disclaimer - I made this model after learning modelling for 3 days. It's a Katamari version of my friend Dan. 192 tris. Here is the model in action in my 3D engine - http://rumblesushi.com/katamari_baldwin.html Cheers, RumbleSushi
it's 4 planes (of two triangles each) with a "look at camera" tag in c4d. In the 3d engine they will be billboarded. Similar settings exist in all 3d packages / games although under different terminology's. Very handy for balls and so on.
Yeah most 2d games now days are done that way. When i was making Glace the programmer did the same ting for that games engine. Also it makes making an editor really easy, as everything is a tile anyway.
