Wrote about this in a thread a week back or so. School assignment, didn't have enought time to make it as good as I wanted it though. edit: It might be pretty obvious though but this is the first model/texture work I've ever done. On a model that is (have worked with "flat" textures before, walls etc.).
unfluffybunny - It looks like you used a whole lot of dodge and burn there. Without an imaginary light source, it generally looks flat. nice sculpt snowfly, very solid for the same naruto contest on gameartisans, a quick zbrushed scroll for our character and a lowpoly with normals & flat colours/GI bake... approx 250k polys: 170 tris and part of a 1024x1024 map: GA thread here: http://www.gameartisans.org/forums/showthread.php?t=894
[ QUOTE ] serofin, the leaf necklace is probably the only thing with some real depth. Everything else looks really flat. It's definitely a good start to the texture, but it looks far from complete (well to me anyway). You need to get back in there and throw in some shadows and highlight to make this character pop.…
A bit of an Update. Armour will be shiny, but somewhat distressed Bronze in UT, with envoronmental shaders. Flat color version because I cannot figure out how to render in Maya well, and I know what the shaders will look like in UT. SO now it's time to rig him and get to work on the animations. Scott
yes, i argee he is flat, i do plan to add more detail into him. Can you get me some good upper body refs? i could also use some of his back. and his torso seems too narrow, but that is due to the fact that he has no shoulders yet...
Ugh I am so Pwned by all the Zbrush / Mudbox action. Im going to have to start doing some stuff and lay off my low poly for awhile. Nice stuff everyone! Heres an update on my Skaven. 4738 tri's. Just a hand painted diffuse map and flat viewport renders.
Rob, That's looking really bad ass. If you're not going to post wires, could you at least post us some flats? all of your 3d pieces have a very nice look to them, I'd be interested to see how you went about it. I guess it's just all in your painting style, eh? Gav
ye DC good stuff mate watch his thumb. his hands are bent inwards (i like that) but the thumb isnt following from the inside, the inside of the hand looks a little flat. get some flesh around the thumb showing, it should be popping out more. ill go work on my english meanwhile
Pavel: Thanks! Enix: Yes, join me! We must show those makers of the 3d pokemon games how to do thier property justice. None of this N64 quality models and flat color textures. sama.van: Nice style (some really great characters on your website too). Really like those lips.
