Maya's orthographic camera's can go wonky sometimes. Try selecting the top camera in the outliner, then zero out the transforms. Then you can move the camera back up on the Y axis so it's above all your scene objects.

If you've mirrored your geometry this can happen. In Maya I would freeze transformations (not sure what that's called in Max) before exporting.

I gave up on this and just duplicated this hand and leg and freezed transformation so the scale is not on negative value. It works fine :)

In Max, I would select an edge loop in each hole, set the working transform to the light, shift-drag, Scale.

Just for your future reference, that "empty group" is not just some other Maya group, it's your mesh's transform data.

well if its a coordinate space issue, then change the spawn code to transform the worldspace position of the bone into player or camera space.

Not buttons per se, but when a transform is invoked, divide the box on the left into x y and z, is what i meant.

Aye, gave up on that one as well. Can't remember whether I checked the mesh for object-level transforms or not, though.

Use the transform hotkeys!! G, R, S, X, Y, and Z. Blender's manipulators are way too fiddly to be useful.
