You have to go to the Attribute Editor, Go to the Shape Node of your Mesh and open the Smooth Mesh Tab. If you use Maya Catmull-Clark as Subdiv Method, there is a Option to preserve Hard edges. Maybe that helps.
In Maya when you go to import/export/open/load textures, you have a folder history. But unlike Max (and I'm sure others) it clears it when you restart Maya. How do I turn this off, it's annoying as hell. I want to open maya, go to open file, and have a list of the latest folders I've been in, in my last maya session. Is…
Hi, Can someone help me with the (whole) Game Animation workflow for Games in Maya? I am using Maya LT 2018. I hope that there is not a huge difference between Maya and the LT Version when it comes to this pipeline. I know how does it work in Blender. All your work is done in one File. Apparently it is not the best…
sounds like maya's using the wrong graphics driver (software maybe?) might explain the slowness and weird shading. do what daz said, delete any preferences and settings (After backing them up, for hotkeys etc.), and see if the problem persists.
there is two point rotate in the maya bonus tools... but i never managed to get the logic how its working... sometimes its doing what it should sometimes not... maybe someone could take a look at the code...
Hey guys, I just landed an animation job at a company that creates medical products. I'll be working on modeling their products and making instructional video's for their clients and salesmen. It's my first real job, so I'm pretty fired up. :) The thing is, they use Maya 2010... I've been doing a lot of self teaching this…
Just wondering in terms of getting a job doing Maya is it ok to use Blender to create my 3D modeling portfolio, if I have 5 years Maya experience, but do not have the funds to use Maya as the main means of making assets for my real for the time being or is there any alternatives to using Maya that I can continue working on…
Okay, this is driving me nuts. I looked everywhere to no avail and decided to ask here since some of the oldbies might still hang around this place and hopefully remember something about that old, obscure format. In other words, I modeled a character in Maya '11 and want to export her to Quake 3's engine. Sadly, all known…
just use "Maya Hardware" as renderer and you're fine. Don't forget to set the right resolution and maybe check the settings of your cam, so you see what you render.(display film gate, overscan, etc..)
Hi, so after reading EarthQuakes post on making sense of hard edges, uvs, normal maps, vertex counts & Understanding averaged normals and ray projection/Who put waviness in my normal map? I decided to re-bake a normal map of model I created some time ago but never managed to get good baking results. The thing is I use Maya…
