I confirmed with a rendering programmer at work, Crysis does indeed delete one of the channels, I think this is pretty common practice. Doesn't the blue channel get regenerated at run time by the shader or something?
Sorry for the bump, but I can confirm that FBX 2013 does indeed support vertex alpha in Modo 801. Which is very fortunate because they've ditched the original FBX 2010 format entirely.
Since the performance is the same regardless of what scripting language you use (This has been officially confirmed AFAIK) I usually just use Unityscript (Javascript) since most Unity examples are in javascript.
Microsoft hasn't confirmed anything yet. All they've said is that it's coming to PC, mobile, and Xbox One. It'll probably be Windows 10 exclusive, unless DirectX 12 is ready before Windows 10.
