Yes, various apps will offer a little control, and slightly difference results, however his basic issue is just fundamental, expecting his AO to offer him something that isn't actually there, and never will be without an accurate highpoly render to bake from. Wow, never seen anything like that with the seamless 2D view afair. Can it be turned off though? Sometimes you do want to have the paint end right at the seam (when the seams are along the edge of a shirt going into skin and such). I'd suggest stepping back for a bit and doing some basic studies with pencil and paper. Currently, it looks like you are trying to run before you can crawl. Study the basics, study anatomy, you'll be better off for it. Don't even worry about scribbling on the default head or mangling a sphere in Zbrush yet, IMHO you should… -
