Thats a basic issue with layered materials and material functions, and unfortunately there is no solution for this (if you want to keep them as functions).

Hmm. I was thinking that the view that's used to project must be passed to the unwrap function somehow, so it seems logical that it should be possible to pass a custom projection to the unwrap function.
I really like this! Such a fun scifi design. I think scifi is going way too functional lately and I love that this is a nice balance between function and fun.
