Anyone else find this to be completely stupid, that someone can't sell ORGINAL, unused versions of software? It's a product, and not even used at all, so it doesn't go under the used-market-damages-developers-argument. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-09-14-court-ruling-threatens-used-games-market
FFS Quixel release it already, it's only a beta we wont bite if it's not perfect. This waiting has become really tedious and the only change on the website today is pre-order has changed to "Buy Now" and we are well into Q2 09-06-14. Quixel you have 5 hours to comply :poly127:
2. Not sure about the release date of Megascans, however some charts already exist to serve as guidelines for creating materials. http://seblagarde.wordpress.com/2014/04/14/dontnod-physically-based-rendering-chart-for-unreal-engine-4/ Also check out this…

Thanks guys! I think i'm just gonna stick with a single more powerful card for now, going to go with : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125462&cm_re=Gigabyte_GeForce_GTX_770-_-14-125-462-_-Product for now at least. Anyone else use a GTX 770 or have any thoughts on the setup?
Are you using Max 15 by any chance? I've never had these problems in 14 but in 15 they seem abundant. Its a bit hit and miss sometimes, to fix it. I either have to go in a fix the normals, or i just add an edit poly modifier, triangulate and undo, seems to fix it most of the time.
Once again thank you, I shall take a look at the CV and update it. Regarding the popping at 14 seconds this is a recording error since it was 2 separate recordings and it seems the project files I used to record have long gone. Would a cross dissolve in editing be a cop out way to ease the transition?
The amount you will learn in a production environment is invaluable and would accelerate your growth as an artist. In the end, you are really the only one that can decide if it was a good choice or not. If it was me, I would have taken it and not looked back. I was in a similar situation 14 years ago and I took it. Never…
You should be able to just apply the "Out Color" output of the normal map texture to the "Normal Camera" input of the material, like step 14 of jeffro's tut, and it should render, at least in maya software renderer. Not sure if that's how you render normal maps in mental ray, I would assume it's the same.
Yesterday my 14 year old secondary monitor (CRT) did the funniest thing; the screen shrunk to the tiniest resolution ever, then did this crazy warp/ripple thing. Then it barked at me and coughed out a huge cloud of smoke from the back. Then it shut off, but would tick forever. Finally time for an upgrade :)
