Thanks guys, made major readjustments to the scene and re-rendered. Don't know why it is diaplaying as 2000 px. Original is 950px by 537.

Downsizing to 512 from a 2048 will lose you A LOT of detail and i dont recommend it. At most you can downsize by 50% to 1024.

oh, the pictures with just the face have a much higher texture. a 2k map. Just to show it off. But the one with the entire armor is a 512.

I've been told that a good benchmark for texture size is about, 512 0r 1024 pixels per 2 meters/6 feet.

Upping to 512 will definately help brush response, and 5.5 or 6(what i use) will probally run a bit better for you too.

The house is 7792 tris and uses 2048 Maps The tree has 1024 maps for the trunk (along with a 512 detail map tiled 8 times) and 256 maps for the leaf canopy :) pf The PICS:
