actually I think that if you model the character just as a solid mesh and texture it with fur/hair it would be fine, then use the planes to add the extra volume on sections where you know the hair would come out away from the body and help determine the silouhette better, otherwise your charactr might get a little… -

You are making great progress with your reel. Really. But anyway, a demoreel should show your best animation, the reel is only as good as the "worst" animation which is in it. Kits is a bit of a pain to get to, be nice to do it somewhere near a sky train. Commercial Drive has tonnes of great places along it, and so does Downtown (SteamWorks in Gastown or something would be cool). Metrotown/Sammy J's works as well, but I think it'd be nice to vary it up and check out somewhere different? I'm fine… -

Seconding beefaroni. If you haven't gotten into the industry yet, your game playing should be kept to a minimum in order to maximize your time to work on your art. You have to buckle down to get that elusive first industry job. Sure, you don't want to burn out so you could stream/play for a bit, but only in moderation.… -

Probably not what you want to hear at this stage BUT ... I think the stone wall thing behind the throne is muddying the waters for you. It causes the throne to disappear visually and at the same time makes itself the focal point of the scene by being so large and flat. I would consider removing it and then working on… -

Beyerdynamic FTW! ain't cheap but they're worth every cent. Got the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm version and I love them. They're also very durable. A real investment.
