There are tons of great tutorials out there. Here are a few recent and well rounded tuts that I like: afisher did a great writeup on a pretty typical pipeline here: http://www.3dtotal.com/index_tutorial_detailed.php?id=1763&catDisplay=1&roPos=1&page=1#.Urg74fRDuMI One of the most up-to-date free tutorials on the subject…
Thanks for all the comments. I agree with you, there should be more worn parts. Basically everything is Polymodeling excluding the head and torso. There is already a lot of Zbrush detailing though, but it's rather subtle (not very visible in the renders) and I learned that I have to do more visible details in ZBrush. I…
And the updates just keep rolling..... :) Brilliant stuff lads. Love it. I really wish that the shelf system could be sorted somehow. It really is getting to be unmanageable. A sub-folder structure with the ability to add custom folders would be fantastic. Even a hotkey floating dialogue like Zbrush lightbox, or Mari's…
Stromberg90: Sure, its actually a pretty simple setup. In Zbrush, I used the "SilverFoilBright" matcap material, and changed the color to be a very slight yellow/green. I didn't save the exact color but R:124 G:127 B:113 looks to be very close. Then I just used Best Preview Render and exported out the different passes:…
I created this little acorn to see if I could do a simple daily warmup model within my current time budget. This took me 30min for modeling & UV and about 50min for texturing and final touches. It's a bit long, but I might be able to do it for some time. Else it might also make sense to only do the model or split modeling…
thats why I wanted to script a UV-layout channel thumbnail explorer so you get with a single click a overview with thumbnails how the uv-sets in each channel look like. The only other thing that does not nag and bahaves correct is the RTT uvChannel option so I might do it that way. It's very annoying that by default the…
I disabled any unused motherboard hardware, realtek audio and lan and that seems to have given a little bit more stability. The crashes are still there but they happen in different circumstances for example UT3 benchmark still freezes up in DX9 mode and can be unfrozen for a few more seconds before it freezes again by…
Like the others say, ditch Maya for AO and learn to use Xnormal. The results are better, faster and can be done with multi million poly models with a high number of rays. Maya chokes on around 1.3 million polys for me, and I have to use very low values for raycasting. It takes a bit of experimentation to get a nice result…
@Computron: They're not outdated. Some things are slightly different but the core hasn't really changed. Modo builds on its self. There isn't any huge revamps that make tutorials obsolete. It may feel a little weird if the UI looks a bit different but if you have any questions the inline help system within modo is super…
