Finals have come and gone! I'm still winding down. Here's what I turned in: (my udk crashed at 2am and i hadn't been saving my package... :( ) I wasted a lot of time with my UVs and they came out pretty bad in the end. :I I gave a lot of space to dumb stuff and then all the large important bits got left out. Not to mention…
Finally this guy is in udk without errors.. Sadly i had no time for proper diffuse and specular maps, so this looks kinda ugly^^ This was the first time i used Zbrush (or any program) and xnormal to create a game asset like this. So im happy with the result. But maybe im just happy there is a result at all :D When i have…
For UDK, the best place to start is at UDN: http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/WebHome.html Pretty much everything you could need to know is there somewhere. Texture baking is the process of transferring details from a high poly mesh to a low poly mesh using normal maps, ambient occlusion maps, etc. There's a zillion ways to…
@littleclaude may be your best person to ask as I believe he is the course leader For the BA course at least I believe they asked for: Life drawings of nude figures (not from photographs) Perspective drawings Colour work Traditional or digital paintings that show composition, use of colour and perspective Sculpture…
I've started a new portfolio piece i'm just at the stage of stitching the seams and creating light maps so i can get it into UDK its just a diffuse map on the model, so i can see what im doing before i move on (got all the normal map bakes done, (the top trims are going to be normal mapped), making use of tillable textures…
@ throttlekitty : hehe Thanks. I was just starting to feel like I was tying to force a square peg in a round hole over and over and over again so I decided to stop. Yeah I will probably use her a bit later on but for the moment I think I might try and learn a bit of UDK on a little environment piece......maybe... thanks…
Thanks so much KDawg! I'm for sure going to put it in Unity. Possibly even in UDK! Though I heard marmoset is pretty neat for final renders. (So in short, I'm still not sure. Recommendations please!!) As for the bird, I want it to be my focal point! It would probably be a guide that leads you to this secret door. Here is…
I would agree with the sentiment that you should complete an entire environment as a you are selling yourself as an environment artist. Show off a full environment you've completed instead of props you added to an environment. They're all great pieces, but a full UDK environment you made will show much more than 5 props…
Played around with the gt500 a little bit to try to make it look less dusty and more like a car. I tried throwing it into udk to see how it would look through an engine. Considering replacing the renders with the real time screen grabs. Yay or nay? Will look into making some small fixes to the city scene next. Not really…
Looking really good, man! Are you going to be able to soften those shadows in the center of your scene. They look way too sharp in comparison to your ref. When you say you are blending between the ground and the mountain with vertex painting and a height map what do you mean? Are you using height map to mask out the vertex…
