Thank you Gera, I plan on spending this summer learning UDK and Unity. Unity is easier to get into but I know UDK has stronger tools overall. And yeah, I need to put my polycounts up as well as textures. It's just tedious to go through everything, but it must be done lol.
when people talk about polycounts, just assume they're speaking of the tri-count. thats what matters. I'm surprised the base mesh is that low... looks like the hands alone eat up a thousand. I'd definitely separate the forms... those butt-flaps don't need to be attached, for instance.
Hey welcome aboard. Glad to see new faces around. I know since coming to polycount my work has become a lot better and thats because of all the awesome crits and feedback i have received here. Good luck with everything and I look forward to your pimps.
Well the general stuff I've heard from EA was always "it's not you guys it's us and we are trying to change how we operate". as far as Morale, I haven't experienced anything like other polycounters have posted ie: all hands "you guys suck" meetings and stuff like that.
Nice models on there Struve, and I agree with above comments. I remember you posting the cyborg chick you have in your junk section here on polycount quite a while ago, just wondering whose concept you based it on, because from what I recall, it wasn't your own
That's a very pleasing and aesthetic style you have. A welcome change, I like it a lot Rob! It would be interesting to see an experiment like the one Poopinmymouth mentioned. You could have tons of objects with this polycount and texturesize in one scene without too much rendering effort for the cpu und gpu.
This should be in 2D/3D forum. http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~polycount/ubb/Forum2/HTML/005922.html?00026 There is the link to my text to go with the videos. It explains what keyboard shortcuts i used in the videos. Also you can collapse and preserve instances if you choose "Collapse To" instead of "Collapse All".
Last few times I browsed through Polycount I couldn't help but laugh at that username. Not in a negative way, I find it humorously pretenious. Had a similar discussion with a friend recently about how on CGtalk anyone with a username like "3dgodmaster!" was a total beginner. No disrespect to TSG, seems very organized.
The whole company swapped it's 2 dev teams on the floors they were on this past week, so you might see some more mythic polycounters post. I know Mojo had 3 different cubes during the last week. My new office pictured below, and the home setup as well.
Baking after, eh? okay! I never knew there was a polycount wiki, my god, there's so much to read in there. Thanks for showing me Chadwick. So baking after. Thats going to be the first thing Iam gonna do when I get back home. Shall see what unfolds!
