Here's a handpainted, diffuse only news stand that I started. Its almost there, needs more polish. I don't want to let this one die... The concept for this had a bunch of other props with it that I think would make an amazing little scene. But I'm really going to have to work to devote time to it...
very nice concept, model, and diffuse map. but Asteric is right. it needs a spec map. also, it looks like the glossyness of this prop is SUPERGLOSS like a bowling ball. i am not sure maybe it just looks like it. perhaps a small gloss map would also do well on top of the spec map.
Alright, reworked the texture a bit and made stuff more defined. I also added some more small detail both in the normal map (thanks ndo2) and in the diffuse. Such as decals for scale reference. Here's what I have so far: Please let me know what you think! Cheers!
One of the tenets of the PBR workflow is that it should hold up under any (reasonable)lighting setup - provided you don't push your values too low/high. So changing your maps to suit your lighting shouldn't be required as it once might have been with the older diffuse/spec workflow.
Cheers man, do appreciate the critique. I'm gonna call it a day for now, but will tweak the base sometime soon, maybe even get it in UE3 with an appropriate light source. It might be easy enough to straighten out some UVs too. The texturing is basically blank/unpainted apart from the wood on the diffuse haha.
Update! Got the low poly/bake/diffuse done. Probably rework the tattoos on him, not really satisfied with them (im thinking tattoo sleeves) , and a few other bits and bobs. The spec map needs to be started, then after thats done ill move onto the unicycle. 2048* maps, 9366 tris. Thanks
Update! Finished retopo and unwrap. Did some test bakes with some cleaning to get an idea of what textures are going to look like. Illaoi's currently sitting at 11096 tris and the resolution for the diffuse in the render is 1024x1024. Going to make sure everything is as clean and proper as can be before I really start…
Ok so, First. I got a plugin that packed my maps pretty decently, So heres that and the light map and my super screwed up normal map. UV's Light map Normal map And here they are applied to the gun. I have the light map in the diffuse slot, And the normal in the bump slot.
Wow, one day away and I'm 8 pages deep. This forum really moves. I updated the webplayer - so any last comments before I submit this thing are appreciated. I still have a few hours to change things up. environment is 3609 triangles with a 512x512 diffuse and light map
Hello, I can sculpt the cat in Zbrush and provide a low poly model with a Diffuse and Normal Map. Estimated completion time is 2 days, and I'll send you WIPs to ensure it looks right. My portfolio is here at http://johndraisey.com/ Thanks for your consideration. Sincerely, John Draisey John.Draisey@Gmail.com
