I added some modular trees to start populating the islands. I also fixed a lot of the textures and added some roughness as well. I have one more Island to do and then to creating the water and foliage.
Modular kit is the way to go. This is a good 'old-school' but still very relevent set of tips. The bend modifier part might be of particular interest to you based on the ref you linked. http://www.thiagoklafke.com/modularenvironments.html
Hi ! Little update. Indoor modular Dungeon Set I've been working on these last 2/3 weeks. Check my portfolio for more images : Cremuss' portfolio Hope you like it ! Regards, Cremuss
Hi all! Here are some renders from a model I did using a combination of the old dDo, the new dDo and some manual texturing. It's a modular game model with a flamethrower (Rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 2).
This is crazy cool. Very very nice work - I was HOPING for some breakdowns on the modularity on the cliffs. Thanks for pulling through ;) Also, great work on the texturing and lighting too. This whole game looks so cool.
As much as I love making guns, I need some variety in my portfolio and some full environments. With this project I am learning UDK and getting familiar with using a modular workflow. This is still a WIP:
For the buildings, did you make giant model for it? Cause thats what it looks like in the pic. Would you recommend making the bulding by having smaller modular pieces and stacking them on top of each other?
This looks amazing, I like the forms of everything and colour pallete you've gone for, is there any chance of some break down shots or some of the modular pieces ? What software did you use for the texturing as well?
If it is part of a modular set, then overlapping will be fine. The best way to combine two objects is to do it by hand, but that is far from the most efficient. Using pro-boolean and then going in and cleaning up the mesh a nice way to do it.
Ok, I have an idea! I will create modular cave assets and the main textures will be driven by seamless maps and tesselation. I made for a test 3 materials .... 1. marmoset rendering 2. Ingame view
