Thanks! I still have some adjustments on the texture so I'll make sure it gets darker. no spec map btw, highlights are rendered with the ink 'n paint shader.
I think that 3DS could handle around 50.000 triangles per frame at 60FPS, but there are no official specs now. It's something similar to PSP, but I guess it's slightly more powerful.
Here are Peppin and Dusty, Defenders of the Ice caps Altogether, both characters, the weapon, and accessories add up to 2,200 tri's, they all share a single 512x512 Diffuse/Spec and Alha map.
Sadly I made this mistake a while back with huge ass renders of DS spec Pikachu For the moon and crescent model couldn't you resuse the same eye and smile for both models?

impressive. looks like low poly tf2 is a go-er. I wonder if valve are interested in picking it up? Could make a good little steam app... and run on lower spec machines!
